This is an austrian pine 'oregon green' i got a couple years ago from a garden center. White pines have five needles in each fascicle. Hard pines have two or three needles in each fascicle.

The austrian pine (pinus nigra) is an especially versatile tree in this.

These stiff needles result in less needle drop in the summer. Both will grace the landscape with the same long pine needles, but the slower growth rate and smaller overall size will allow them to fit in a tighter space. White pines have long (4 or longer), slender cones. I was at a nursery recently and fell in love with this cultivar.
